Princess in the Tower

Programs: Autodesk Maya, Adobe Photoshop

3D Environment

For 3D Modeling 1, I created an interior environment to use as reference for a visual novel I am creating after the class’ conclusion. It features a room inside a tall tower with a bed, vanity, candles, stool, day bed, mirror staircase, and a bit more!

Beyond the basics of modeling, I learned better work flow and organization that will aid in the latter half of modeling- unwrapping, texturing baking. My green approach shied me away from baking low poly with a high poly texture, but it is a technique I will definitely be exploring with a smaller independent prop based project.

My favorite part of the entire assignment was drawing textures. All of the textures in the final render are done by hand- unless it is a flat color or chrome. I adore the stylized look of games like League of Legends or Spyro, so it is something I tried to mimic. It sort of has a PS2 texture but PS5 graphics quality in the end.

Despite some bumps, I believe texturing and painting to be my favorite part- even unwrapping is fun. My experience learning the various tools of beginner modeling and Autodesk Maya will certainly full future development. The file is below, but be warned it is fit for a novice!
